Michael Stonebrakers views of the world
In the recent ACM Magazine Michael Stonebraker writes in the abstract
for a SQL Databases vs. NoSQL Databases:
"Recently, there has been a lot of buzz about NoSQL databases. In fact, there were at least two conferences on the topic in 2009, one on each coast."
Well I may be to sentitive here but the world does not only consist of the
US-West- and the US-East Coast.
If you look at the event registry on http://nosql-database.org
you can easily see that there had been 8 events! Of course some have not
been 'real' conferences and Michael says "at least" so he is on the safe side.
But we definetely had more then two conferences and I would be happy if events
outside the US would be mentioned in the future. Especially Berlin (2009 and 2010) or London in these days. In total I count 19 events!
So keep on fighing for choice, diversity and real data / requirements analysis!
